The handicrafts are an expression of thoughts and innovations. It is a field of art that lays the foundation for bonding between cultures and religions. The prevailing handicraft traditions of India has seen numerous interventions that created a new art out of them. Some of the states in India have the tradition of weaving gold and silver threads on a piece of silk or cotton, which is known to be Zari or Brocade work. Punjab has the tradition of making very fine embroidery called as Phulkari.
