The story of pottery art can be traced back to Neolithic age. At that point of time, coarse handmade pottery was available in various colors and shapes. Bowls, jars and vessels were being the main of all with paintings made by the Neolithic man. After that, dynasties came and nurtured the art of pottery making. From simple raw styled pottery, it developed into stylish pottery art with glaze and vibrant colored paintings on them. Even, various artisans from abroad were called to settle in India. And now, the present scenario is such that pottery has entered an advanced stage. The artisans craft fine carvings on their art to enhance the look of a simple jar or vessel or jug.
